Mütter & Töchter (Auswahl)

„Mütter & Töchter“ ist ein Langzeitprojekt und zugleich ein sehr universelles Thema.
Ich habe in meinem eigenen Umfeld festgestellt, dass Mutter-Tochter-Beziehungen oft sehr emotionsgeladen sind.
Ich fand es interessant, dieses Thema zu erforschen. Sowohl in Deutschland als auch in Polen – meinem Heimatland – ist die Rolle der Mutter sehr traditionell, daher habe ich beschlossen, das Projekt in beiden Ländern umzusetzen.
Ich fand es interessant, Mütter und Töchter im Wohnzimmer der Mutter zu porträtieren, da dies meist der repräsentativste Raum im Haus ist und viele visuelle Hinweise auf die Persönlichkeit der Bewohnerin enthält. Dann bat ich jedes Paar, sich nahe beieinander und so zu positionieren, wie es sich für sie angenehm anfühlte. Einige verschränkten spontan ihre Arme, andere wandten sich einander zu oder ab. Diese Porträts sind spontane Aufnahmen eines sehr existenziellen Themas, und durch die Befolgung eines definierten Konzepts treten die Persönlichkeiten auf natürliche Weise aus jedem Bild hervor.

Die Arbeit wurde mehrfach ausgestellt, und die Reaktionen der Betrachter waren sehr bewegend.

Vielleicht verstärkt die formale Präsentation den emotionalen Gehalt. Die Porträts scheinen im Kopf des Betrachters einen filmischen Effekt zu erzeugen und wecken möglicherweise dessen eigene Erinnerungen oder Erfahrungen.

Mothers & Daughters (Selection)

„Mothers & Daughters“ is a long time project and at the same time such a universal subject. I discovered in my own environment that mother / daughter relationships are often loaded with emotions.  I found it interesting to explore this topic. 
In Germany as well as in Poland - my native country - the mother's role is very traditional, so I decided to realise the project in both countries. I found it interesting to portray Mothers & Daughters in the mother’s livingroom, because it is usually the most representative room in the house and contains lots of visual cues about the resident’s personality.Then I asked each pair to place themselves close to each other and in a way they would feel comfortable. Some spontaneously linked their arms with each other, others turned towards or away from each other. 

These portraits are spontaneous takes on a very existential subject and by following a defined concept, the personalities are naturally emerging out of each image. The work was exhibited several times and the viewers’ reactions were quite moving.
Maybe the formal presentation  strengthens the emotional content. The portraits seem to create a cinematic effect inside the viewer’s mind and maybe they ewoke the viewer’s own memories or experiences.
